Greetings, World Builders!
I am thrilled to share the latest development updates on Mundus: World Builder as we progress through Alpha v0.2.0. Development has been slow since it's just me working on this. With two jobs to juggle, I've had to prioritize those over Mundus for now. As such, This update focuses on refining features, improving stability, and laying the groundwork for the expansive functionality I have planned for the future. Here's a comprehensive look at what's been achieved so far.
Highlights of Alpha v0.2.0
New Features
- Async Project Loading: Streamlined the process of loading projects for a faster, smoother experience.
- Added Basic Offline Login System: Enables users to access the application without an active internet connection.
- Added HSplit Capabilities: Introduced panel resizing for enhanced UI flexibility.
Bug Fixes
- Resolved Files Refresh Crash: Fixed an issue where refreshing files caused the application to crash.
- Add Feedback on Refresh Button Presses: Improved responsiveness with clear feedback when refreshing files.
Backend Enhancements
- Async Project Loading (Optimized): Reducing overhead during project load times to improve performance.
Theming Improvements
- Customizable UI Color Scheme: A new feature allowing users to personalize the interface to their liking.
- Optimized Default Theme: Enhanced default theme for improved readability and usability.
Plugins
- No plugin-related updates were introduced in this version. Look out for exciting developments in future releases!
Challenges and Milestones
While I have made significant progress, certain challenges require creative solutions. One such challenge was optimizing the rendering pipeline for procedural elements, which was crucial for maintaining performance on low-spec devices.
Looking forward, I am preparing to tackle plugin support using the WASM framework in Alpha v0.3.0, a highly anticipated feature for tooling and extended functionality.
